WORD SPURS: THE PERFECT ENDING.

To what was the best season of his career in terms of goals contribution as a striker with fourteen goals in all competitions to his name.

A threat in the aerial duels and a proven scorer also with his head as he does with his feet. The Blues striker is one of the major players in the attacking end of the team.

Edema Peter shares about his struggles in his debut season in the last season, dealing with the pandemic, trying to get the best out of himself during the lockdown and grabbing the opportunity given to him by the manager.

ON THE 2020/21 SEASON AT THE NLO & THE TCC LEAGUE...

Edema Peter: ‘This was one of our best seasons so far as a team, we played together as a team understanding ourselves as individuals and as a group.

‘We’ve been back in training since last year even before the pandemic kicked in and we all had to go off for a long time.

‘Coming back after the impromptu long break it was like we never left and the energy was way higher within the camp which also made our season a good one.

‘We started slowly at the NLO and couldn’t hit our target but that was our best performance so far as we ended strong in the league.

‘The TCC league also gave us that platform to be able to showcase our talents and skills week in and week out. So, generally, it was indeed a nice campaign at both leagues.

‘To also end the TCC season in front of our fans by lifting the Championship Cup was just the perfect ending we could have asked for.

ABOUT THE GOALS SCORED DURING THE CAMPAIGN…

‘I mean I am a striker and for me, it’s imperative to get goals for my team so there was no question about if I was going to score rather how many goals can I score.

‘What I did was giving myself a target of twenty goals so as it is I am only shy of six which for me is a very fair average.

‘When I reflect on my first season with the team, it was one hectic and difficult period of my career that made me decided I was going to do all it takes to make it better this season.

ON HAVING TO DEAL WITH THE PANDEMIC…

‘That was such a difficult period for everyone around the world, for me, I took advantage of the lockdown to get resources that would help me improve my game.

‘We were always getting materials online from the technical team to work on some personal routines to keep us in shape and maintain some level of fitness.

‘Eating healthy was also a thing for me, chatting with the players on our WhatsApp group to keep the communication line open and supporting each other through that period.

ON TAKING FULL ADVANTAGE OF THE NOD GIVEN BY THE MANAGER...

‘Football is also a game of chance or luck as it may be in some cases. For me, I knew I had to repay my coach because he does have big faith in me and he tells me this.

‘It was all about taking the opportunity given to lead the line which to the best of my ability I was able to do all I can for my coach and the team.

‘I am so appreciating of the time, words of encouragement and faith the gaffer has in me and I hope I can do more in the future.’
