WORD SPURS 🗣
WORK, HEALTHY DIET & RELAXATION.
Having been on a long break without football there is the tendency of players getting out of shape as regarding fitness.
GFC Magazine discusses with striker Edema Peter on today’s Blues Word Spurs as he explains what his routine looks like on a daily basis working from home.
WHAT YOUR DAY IS LIKE WITHOUT FOOTBALL?
PETER: ‘A day without football for me might be boring in some way at this same gives me the opportunity to explore other things that I find interesting to engage myself in.
I am business inclined also, so I tend to get more information as regards entrepreneurship and everything in that avenue.’
HOW DO YOU GET ALONG ABOUT FITNESS FROM HOME?
PETER: ‘As a sportsman, you always want to stay sharp mentally and physically, so your fitness is key in all aspects.
It might be a bit difficult working out on your own without supervision from the fitness coaches, also it’s all about focus and discipline in this period as we work mostly from home.
I get up daily and use the workout schedule we’ve been provided by the club and this helps in aiding my workout sessions, also I get some outdoor runs done.
My drills are on ball skills, strength workouts and agility drills.’
EVER PARTICULAR ABOUT KEEPING AN HEALTHY DIET?
PETER: ‘Food is actually an essential part of human living and eating healthy is quite important at the same time.
For me, as a football player, I get to also watch what I eat, what food combination is okay for my body system. I need to be wary of what I consume before a game and even after.
I eat a lot of protein some carbohydrates too and increase the intake of good fats to keep healthy hormones. Also, I drink lots of water.
So, at the moment I take my diet seriously because this helps my fitness shape in some way which I will like to maintain upon resumption.’
YOUR THOUGHTS ON POSSIBILITY OF RESUMPTION?
PETER: ‘We all can’t wait for football to be back, we’ve been training intensely before everything went on hold.
The season is one we are looking to get going as everyone is up and ready for the tasks ahead of us.
Also, we do understand that the Government is only trying to protect the citizens as safety is a priority.’
HOW DO YOU LIKE TO RELAX?
PETER: ‘My leisure time is quite precious to me and I always make sure to get the best out of it.
I like to spend time out with friends and family, other times maybe when I am alone I love to watch movies and I tune to Netflix and see some Nigerian movies on there.
One of the movies I saw recently is “Living In Bondage” and it was really worth the watch.’
