WEEKEND BUZZ.

OFF ON THE RIGHT FOOT.
As we await the resumption of football in the country, there has been some recent development from the League Management proposing the resumption towards late September to early October.

GK Ramon Kabiru reflects on the probability of football resumption soon and having a positive start to the season.

ABOUT THE BREAK SO FAR.
KABIRU: ‘Well, it’s been a deliberate break as the regular season is meant to be on as it were. The pandemic has distraught the calendar and has also made us be on a lockdown, which means we have to be on a break.

As a team, we’ve been guided with some personal training schedule from home by the technical team. This has helped us in getting in shape and remain focused.’

ON KEEPING TO SAFETY PRECAUTION.
KABIRU: ‘In this particular period personal hygiene is very important and I have been more aware of my environment during this time.

I always make sure my surrounding areas are well clean, my hand wash and sanitiser are always in place, social distancing and using my protective mask when in public space.’

POSSIBLE RESUMPTION OF FOOTBALL.
KABIRU: ‘There have been stories making the rounds on football returning soon, but I am sure the League Management is taking all the right measures just before they give the green light.

As much as we all want to return to the pitch and commence the season, we have to think about the safety of players, staff and fans. So, it has to go in the right way.

Government has given the go-ahead on the resumption of non-contact sports, so I feel football might be back soon as it is.’

ABOUT RESTARTING ON A HIGH.
KABIRU: ‘Before the break, we have started preparing with some high-intensity training and friendly games.

We were all waiting for the start of the season as we all want to hit the ground running and make a good impression with our performances.

Once football resumes we have to get off on the right foot and get back to full sharpness. If we start on a winning note, it will help us going further into the season.’

THOUGHTS ON PERSONAL GOAL FOR THE SEASON.
KABIRU: ‘I am all focused on team performance as a whole and my personal goal is to achieve a successful season with the team.

Whenever I am called upon by the Manager, I will always be ready and give my best performance at all times.

Hopefully, we will have a fantastic season with the squad we have at the moment and I wish for every squad member to have an injury-free season ahead.’
