THE WRITER’S CORNER
DEALING WITH THE PANDEMIC.
Written by Adeboye Akinyelu.
Hello, welcome to this end of the Aeries Park, as our inhouse writers explore an in-depth analysis of the Blues when the season resumes and how we progress further as a team during the season.
First of all, football is still on hold because of the very obvious reason of the pandemic. Collectively as individuals and as a group, we’ve all been dealing with the pandemic in our several ways.
Sometimes I still wonder how 2020 got the world right in the very first half, and not allowing any kind of settling mounting the pressure.
Before going further, I will like to use this medium to express my sincere condolences to everyone affected by the virus. The world has really lost loved ones due to this.
Also, all over the world, we can’t stop appreciating the health care workers and officials who have been the first responders and at the forefront of fighting against the virus. We really appreciate you all for the continuous outstanding efforts.
So, coming back to the football club, how have we faired in this period? It’s been over five months without football but the team has pretty much been running behind the scene.
We have got to give some kudos to the club management for their efforts over the past few weeks in partnership with “The Gbagada Cares”initiative and other foundations that was partnered with in joining some great causes.
The COVID-19 palliative project to aid support for the elderly in the community was at the top for me, because we all know what it meant to get basic food essentials especially during the lockdown phase.
At a time when there was a rise in the call of ending rape culture in the country, we joined in the sensitisation campaign to create awareness on “Say No To Rape” in our community.
The club has really done so good when it comes to social responsibility and engagement with the fans and community and we are all proud to be a part of that.
As we await the resumption of football activities, I want to let us know at this time that a whole lot is going on within the club and there are lots of interesting news to be shared with the Blues family.
Stay connected with us and keep supporting the Blue Eagles, come rain and shine just keep waving high that blue flag. We’ll be back together soon and stay safe!
