GETTING WARMED UP.
Written by Adeboye Akinyelu.
Finally, we are back in action and running up the length and width of a football pitch. It’s been more than a week the lads returned after a long break of up to seven months.
There has been much work done especially on the fitness aspect as reported last week. It is most important the players get back to shape and regain match fitness.
On Wednesday, the team set out to play their first friendly game of the pre-season against the Professional League side; MFM FC which ended in a 2-0 win in favour of the NPFL side.
According to the Team Manager after the game, he said: “There are some positives and we’ll go back and keep working on that”. Building on the statement of the boss, there was some impressive display which can always be built upon.
The warm-up games are specifically designed to help the players get some match minutes and fitness and to also work on the tactical side of their game. It will be important for the team to build chemistry amongst themselves also going into the main season.
With the new players, there is a need to find a balance within the group as quickly as possible. It might take some work for a bit but eventually, the coordination has to be deliberate for the team’s playing style.
We are getting closer to the season restart and this time around there will be loads of action coming almost every week for us as a team and we have to be prepared ahead.
To end the week the boys will be playing another friendly game this weekend, even though these games are fitness-based, I am certain the lads will put their best in for a win for all the fans who can’t come out to watch them live.
Stay connected to all channels of the Blue Eagles from next week as there is some interesting announcement to be made which will excite every one of us. Bye for now.
