OCT27 MIDWEEK PULSE
Written by Adeboye Akinyelu
COMPETITION & QUALITY.
Looking towards the possibility of the return of football activities across the country, we take an assessment view of the squad.
In this week’s column of the midweek pulse midfield player; Onashokun Yinusa talks about his personal development the team’s strength going into the new season.
ABOUT THE TEAM PREPARATION FOR A POSSIBLE RESUMPTION?
YINUSA: ‘Presently, we all can only assume as to when we think we can resume training and get ourselves being ready for the season.
It’s apparently a general feeling within the group while we have our online meetings. We all are ready to get back and pick up from where we left off, just before the deliberate break.’
ON PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT SO FAR WITH THE TEAM?
YINUSA: ‘Last season was quite a good one as I had started in some games and came on as subs in some others, but I was able to add to the team.
The manager has been such an important figure in my personal development as he always urges and encourages me to do more.
I try to get the best out of myself during training and when given a shot during games.
So, I can say so far, my game has been much improved and my fitness is key for the upcoming season so I can be better involved and help the team.’
WHAT’S YOUR VIEW ON THE CURRENT SQUAD?
YINUSA: ‘The club has gone out for some addition to the group which we know is needed for the strengthening of some major positions.
I feel we have a stronger squad and the whole team is looking good and lots of positive energy on the ground.
The new lads have mixed in well with the old players and there’s a sense of understanding and mutual respect amongst everyone which is very important for the squad.’
ON COMPETITION FOR SPOTS?
YINUSA: ‘When you’re in a team with a talented and skillful bunch of players, you definitely realize there’s a need to put in your best to be picked.
It’s only healthy also for the team to have players work hard and earn their spots in the starting squad.
The manager and his technical team are always fair in their selection and their decisions are based on what they see us do during the training session.’
ABOUT PERSONAL SEASON’S OBJECTIVE?
YINUSA: ‘I would like to get my fitness on the check, so I can be more involved also this season.
Collectively as a team I would like us to do better than what we did in the last season, we can always improve and get better individually and as a group.’
A FEW WORD TO FANS DURING THIS PERIOD?
YINUSA: ‘We only hope for a much-improved situation and a positive solution on a daily basis.
For our fans, all we love to say to them right now is that they have to stay and strong and we are all thinking about you.
Very soon we all are going to back together but for now, remain safe and keep the blue flag flying.’
